Directions

By train
The Orchesterzentrum|NRW is five minutes’ walk away from the main station in Dortmund. Leave the station in the direction of the city centre and turn left. Cross Königswall at one of the next two traffic lights. Follow Königswall until you can turn right into Brückstrasse. The Orchesterzentrum|NRW is just a few metres further.

Local public transport
You can reach the closest underground stations

  • with the lines U42, U43, U44, U46 as far as the stop Reinoldikirche; Kuckelke/Brückstrasse exit, from there via Kuckelke, Alter Burgwall and Helle to the Orchesterzentrum|NRW
  • with the lines U41, U45, U47, U49 as far as the stop Kampstrasse; Konzerthaus Dortmund exit, from there via Hansastrasse, Bissenkamp and Gerberstrasse to the Orchesterzentrum|NRW.

By car
The Bissenkamp, Kuckelke and Königswall multi-storey car parks as well as the Konzerthaus underground car park are all in the direct vicinity of the Orchesterzentrum|NRW. A traffic guidance system leads you to the car parks via the Dortmund “Innenstadtring” (Wallring) inner ring-road. Direct access by car is not possible since the Orchesterzentrum|NRW is located in a pedestrian zone.

Disablility access

It should be possible for persons with disabilities to attend concerts and other events at the Orchesterzentrum|NRW easily and, as far as possible, independently. All publicly accessible areas have been checked and certified within the “Reisen für Alle” (travel for all) system. They fulfil the quality criteria for the “Disability access verified – access for persons with disability and partially accessible for wheelchair users” in the context of the “Reisen für Alle” system.

Seating areas for wheelchair users
There are two seating areas in the concert hall earmarked for wheelchair users directly adjacent to the entrance door. The entrance to the building has a doorway threshold of 1 cm. All rooms and areas for the use of guests are accessible at ground level. All entrances and doors are at least 90cm wide.

Parking
The Orchesterzentrum|NRW does not have its own parking facilities. Public parking spaces for persons with disabilities can be found close to the Orchesterzentrum|NRW on Burgwall and Hansastrasse.

WC for persons with disabilities
The Orchesterzentrum|NRW has one WC for persons with disability. The area in front of the WC, the washbasin and the door provides at least 150 cm x 150 cm of space. There is 110 cm x 70 cm of space to the right of the WC and 83 cm x 70 cm of space to the left. A flip-up handgrip is installed on each side. The washbasin has unrestricted space for a wheelchair underneath and the mirror can be seen both when sitting or standing.

Facilities for the visually impaired or blind
The entrance is designed to be visually high-contrast and is also recognisable by means of a tactually discernible differentiation in flooring. Signage within the building is high-contrast and clearly legible. The entrance doors are glass doors without any safety markings. There are no revolving doors. Assistance dogs may be brought in. The steps in the concert hall are marked with high-contrast edges.
